Piotr Sienkiewicz
Advisor to the Board, joined UBIK BC in 2008, specializes in software-based innovation and startup venturing.
He is a graduate of the University of Warsaw, Faculty of Physics, MSc in Solid State Physics, and of the faculty of Computer Science, Numerical Ananlysis Dept. He also holds an MBA from the Carlsson School of Management at University of Minnesota (2000).
In 1990 he co-founded MSP, one of the largest Polish computer wholesalers, and was member of the board. The company was almost single-handedly responsible for creating the software market in Poland.
In 1994 he was one of the key persons in negotiating and preparing the merge with a Czech distributor. The merged company becomes a leading distributor in Eastern Europe. In 1995 member of committee preparing the acquisition of a Hungarian distributor.
In 1994 he co-founded Polska OnLine, the leading ISP, with Esther Dyson and Dan Lynch among the founders. He joined the management team as CEO. There he lead the acquisition of a software developer and closed a VC investment. After leading a number of contacts and due diligence procedures with telcos and other potential shareholders, he finalized an agreement whereby a polish system integrator purchased shares and become a majority shareholder.
He was involved, as an investor, in the polish solid state Blue Laser project.
His main passion is windsurfing – freestyle and wave-sailing, with tennis and skiing close seconds.
